Max got a pair of “real” binoculars from Grandma and Grandpa for his birthday last year and brought them with him for sightseeing. Imagine his joy when he discovered some heavy duty Nikon binoculars in the hotel room! Hazel was stoked as well, as she got the smaller pair. These two spent many peaceful moments spying on the boats and pedestrians below.
We didn’t have much of an agenda for this trip, so our first night there we just went down to the water to check out the harbor. Max soaked up the time with his daddy, who has been very busy traveling for work and keeping late hours. These four days of no work emails or calls was just what the little guy (and all of us) needed. Hazel enjoyed trying to get lost and/or trampled in large crowds and running straight into the harbor. Let’s just say it was difficult to get many good pictures while also keeping her alive. Mostly I had to wear her in the carrier, so I did not get as many photos as I would have liked.
We decided go to with a hotel for this trip instead of the typical AirBnB, and we were so glad we did. AirBnBs in these big cities tend to be super tiny and it rained a significant amount of the time we were in Hong Kong, so we were grateful for all the extra space the hotel provided.
This particular hotel had a lounge where they served light meals, including afternoon tea, throughout the day. This was by far the highlight of the trip for Max, our little hobbit. Second breakfasts and afternoon teas made his little foodie heart so happy. He especially loved the “sweet little things that looked like tiny hamburgers but had sugar in them,” a.k.a. macaroons, at tea. I think he’s ready to become an old British guy now.
The concierge also met us at the the lobby with little Hong Kong buses for the kids, provided little snacks for them to our room each night, and generally made them feel right at home.
We took a little trip to Hong Kong last week and had such a great time together. These guys are expert travelers now and as long as we can take public transportation and ditch the car seats, these ages are so fun for exploring new places.
Late January. Typical weekday lunch haunt.
Late January at Comprehensive Park.

Late January. Don’t you just love getting sand in your shoes at the beach?

Late January. They love this race car shopping cart at the commissary. I do not. It weighs a ton and is really hard to turn. But they LOVE it. And they are pretty cute “driving” and bouncing up and down in it.
Late January. Checking out the fish at the mall.

Late January. Always building.
