Max has been really into his legos lately.  He’s now built all the creations in the little booklet that came with the set we got him for his fourth birthday.  He can follow the diagrams really well and it’s so fun to watch him work.  He really gets in the zone and he can keep building for hours.

It’s been nearly three months since I’ve posted regularly (sorry!).  I’ve been overwhelmed, and then I got out of the habit.  So I’m going back through the archives to slowly catch up here.

This was only three months ago, but it feels like so long ago.  It was just one of those sweet summer afternoons after a day of rain.  Everyone came out to soak up a few rays of sunshine before the sun set.  These friends have moved back to the states and we’ve moved houses since them.  Nothing stays the same around here.

Max had his first day of pre-k last week.  He goes on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and is enjoying it for the most part.  We are all a little on the fence over here about this whole “going to school” thing.  Hazel and I miss him while he is gone!  And his quiet, introverted soul just wants to stay home in his comfy pants and build all day every day.  But we’re stretching a bit and considering this a trial run of what to anticipate as we look at Kindergarten next year (what!?? Noooo!!!!).

We hung out all day at the USO after Ben dropped us off on his way to work.  Fortunately, they had a kitchen, a nursery, plenty of toys and books, and even a playground.  After 8+ hours, our flight was finally we called.  We rode back on a cargo plane.  It was noisy, but I couldn’t keep earplugs in Hazel’s ears.  The noise was convenient when Hazel yelled, so we didn’t disturb the other passengers.  It was a long, but thankfully uneventful, 11 hours back to Okinawa.
