And just a few more from Kazutakadai because I just can’t help myself.
It was a rainy Sunday but Ben had work to do, so Max and Hazel and I did some cherry blossom hunting to see what we could find close to the house. Kazutakadai park is about 15 minutes from home and we were not disappointed!
Avocado fan.
Hazel’s first slide was great fun. A little scary, but fun.
She also loves the swing, but takes after her brother by expressing joy with a furrowed brow. She loves it, trust me.
After we adventure, we always hit up a cafe for refueling. Preferably with friends. And an ocean view.
We took a drive up north to check out the cosmos fields since they’re in bloom for such a short time here. This is the best time of year for blooms and we’ve been all over the island the past two weeks to see as many as possible!
These are the best I could get, since Hazel just kept trying to eat the flowers, and Max just wanted to run laps around the flowers and scale walls.
These pictures paint a lovely day (and it was!), but there was also a face plant into the mud (Hazel), peeing behind a tractor (Max), and some scrapes and bruises (also Max).
Max and I were just not clicking last weekend. I was sharp, he was defiant. We left Hazel with Daddy and went on a little mom/son date to “our spot” with some treats. All better.
Please tell me problems in the teenage years are so easily solved.
We checked out the Murasaki Mura lantern festival a few weekends ago with friends and it did not disappoint! Max enjoyed inspecting the power source for all the lights and discovering the two bulbs in the entire place that were out. Hazel enjoyed the dumplings.
Typical breakfast shenanigans. Oddly and unintentionally matching.

Hazel’s new favorite spot is under this end table.
