After 10 hours at the airport, a cancelled then reinstated flight, a cancelled reroute to Houston, three gate changes and a terminal change, a busted radio, a flight crew over their limit, late incoming aircraft, a reroute due to weather requiring a taxi back to the gate for more fuel… and we are finally in Dallas (and so are our bags🙌🏻)!!!! It’s been a long day but I was with the two I love most and everyone was such a good sport. Now for some sleep!!

Oh, Max.  He is full of energy, smiles, mischief, and jokes.  Some of his jokes lately are variations of absurd things in his room and feeding the cat absurd things:

“Kitty eat cinnamon!”

“Cumin in my room!”

(He really likes spices…)

And there was this exchange as he hid in his closet this afternoon and I pretended to look for him:

Me: “Is he under the bed?  Nope!”

Me: “Is he under the dresser?  Nope!”

[from the closet]: “Maybe under rocking chair!”

Me: “Nope, not under the rocking chair.  Has anyone seen Max?”

[from the closet]: “No.”

He is a bit of a know-it-all.  When he misidentifies something and we correct him, he patiently explains to us how he is right.  For example, I was spreading butter on his toast, and he called it cheese.  I told him it was butter, and he said “like cheese” in a patronizing tone.  He has done this with pictures in his books, the number 9 (like a 6), and other things in which he is more knowledgable than us.  Clearly I’ve been a bit pedantic lately.

Love this kid to the moon and back.

We went to the Lego store for a friend yesterday, and they had blocks sitting out for play. I think this renewed Max’s interest, and he did this for about an hour after lunch while I worked on second quarter projections. Win-win.

Also, he dressed himself again, clearly. I didn’t realize he would have an opinion about clothes so early.
